Dr. McDonnell is Maryland Surgeon's newest physician specializing in General Surgery. She is an alum of the St Agnes Hospital General Surgery Residency Program in which during her time she worked in all realms of surgery including Acute Care/Trauma Surgery, General, Breast and Vascular Surgery while earning herself prestigious academic and clinical recognition.

Dr McDonnell earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine before joining and completing her General Surgery Residency at St. Agnes Hospital. During her time she served on the Graduate Medical Education Committee and was the active leader of the Resident Wellness Committee. During her residency, Dr McDonnell found great passion not only in general surgery, but also vascular surgery and plans to begin her Vascular Surgery Fellowship in Toledo, OH starting Fall 2025.

Before her medical career, Dr. McDonnell focused her interest into her career as a professional ballet dancer. For over twenty years and starting from her roots in her hometown of Troy, NY, she danced with dance companies such as Albany Berkshire Ballet, Boston Ballet, and Columbus Dance Theatre while earning her BA in Dance alongside her BS in Pre-med Biology at Mercyhurst University in Erie, PA. Dr McDonnell accredits her previous dance training for her innate determination, perseverance, as well as her developed interest in surgical ergonomics.

Currently Dr McDonnell enjoys spending time with her husband and son (soon to be two sons) while also making time for travel, yoga and running.
