A. Waqas Ahad, MD, FACS

Dr. Ahad specializes in minimally invasive surgery and is further trained in robotic-assisted surgery.  He is a board-certified general surgeon and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  In 2011 he completed a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas.  He has been practicing surgery since 2011.

He graduated from King Edward Medical College in 2000.  He went on to do residency in general surgery at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan.  During residency, he did a research fellowship for one year in plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Ahad's medical inspiration comes from his patients and family.  He comes from a long line of physicians who strived for excellence and providing care to those who are underserved.  Providing service to others has been very rewarding to Dr. Ahad.

Dr. Ahad was born in Saudi Arabia and raised in Pakistan and the United Kingdom before returning to Pakistan for medical school.  He is happily married to his wife who is also a physician and they have two children together.  His experience has fostered a great love for travel and when he is not in the office, hospital, or operating room he loves to experiment in the kitchen and cook French and Italian cuisine.  He can be found quoting Star Wars and is an avid fan of the genre.
